Does anyone know about Monsanto?

i was sent a petition stop supermarkets here in uk from selling products supplied by a company called monsanto.

i have never heard of them so i googled them and there doesn't seem to be anything good being said.

should we be worried over here?.

Have you ever played the lottery? Do you still do it?

i have never purchased lottery tickets in my life, but i have picked lottery numbers with someone in the past only one time.

he agreed to split the winnings if we win, but we didn't.

i am thinking about buying some lottery tickets, hopefully i will get very lucky.

I've never bought a lottery ticket and am not much of a gambler, but I don't think it's wrong to do so.

I've been to Vegas quite a few times and have gambled however I do it for recreation and not out of greed. I reason, how many times do you think, realistically, you are going to come out ahead playing those games? So it's all just for fun.

Besides, I figure if the $ociety can gamble with millions of dollars in tax free donations (hedge funds, property, etc.) then a bit of fun and maybe a few bucks here or there to line my pocket can't be all that bad.

Heat Pumps

i am replacing my hvac system, considering 2 options .

1) heat pump coupled with a 80% efficiency furnace for when it drops below 20f .

2) a 95% high efficiency furnace with a traditional 15 seer a/c unit.. anyone here work in this field or replace their system recently?

I have a heat pump in my store and my house; they are much more efficient than stand-alone forced air furnaces and other electric heat sources.

At my store (3500sf) we had an entire new system installed; I save about $600 a month over the old electric heat system we had.

At home (1800sf) I had the old furnace replaced and a heat pump installed; I save about $100 a month.

Love or Faith?

see, there was a young girl who i met at the post-funeral house party my family held after my aunt passed.

she was already a regular pioneer.

an elder's daughter, third-gen-jw, but far more dedicated than i ever was.

You probably already know that in JW land there are no close plutonic male female relationships, so in her mind the only way you can be involved is to have the goal of marriage.

I know it's difficult to think of letting go of her or the idea, relationship, infatuation or whatever it is you have, but ask yourself:

Am I ready for marriage?

Do I think I can have a happy marriage with someone who doesn't share my beliefs, especially knowing her stand on unbelievers?

Can I keep up the veneer of belief, or can I live with letting her down with my doubts?

Is she something I can afford emotionally, spiritually and mentally or will the relationship come with too much debt/baggage because of "our" religion?

Remember that she considers marriage a three-fold cord with Jehovah; do you think you can live with that?

Is it too much to ask the "CREATOR" in this technological, scientific age to give us a modern update for his intentions?

is this a fair question to put to jehovah / yahweh or whoever ?

in all sincerity i do not mean any disrespect to any beleivers in the god of the bible, but this is a truly remarkable age with communication advances incomparable with 2000 years ago , if the creator or jesus christ were truly interested in giving everybody the chance of everlasting life , wouldn`t they be giving people the opportunity to hear a more current up to date warning now ?

and not relying on messages in languages that are not in use today and are subject to so many different interpretations ?.

I too have wondered about what we know and how we know the “truth” at all?

Like a computer program, we can get all the updates our hearts desire but if we don't have the original authentic code they do no good.

At least programs have ways to authenticate them; the “truth” doesn’t.

So if we can’t confirm the “truth” what makes us think we have it; after all, isn’t truth unconfirmed just theory?

If we cannot prove the theory of the “truth” won’t updates be useless?

And if we aren’t getting updates or if were are and they don’t fit (noo-light), does this mean we never had the “truth” to begin with?

Maybe this is why all the noo-light doesn’t make sense; it doesn’t matter how many pieces you ad to the puzzle if the puzzle has no picture, edges or discernable arrangement; you can’t ad pieces to a puzzle of nothing.

Higher Education Defined

in a new letter to all b.o.e., higher education has been defined as any education that leads to a bachelor's degree, or to postgraduate studies for careers in medicine, law, engineering and so forth.

the letter is to be used to determine if an elder, ministerial servant or pioneer still qualify if they or someone in there family, that they care for, is pursuing higher education.. so getting your associates must be fine then?.

Yep, if you're a witless don't even think about gettin' too edumacated; however, if before you're drawn by jay-hoover you're already a lawyer, doctor or other highly educated individual that we can exploit, I mean use, then come on down!

Will Jehovah himself kill me, or will Jesus, Satan, or someone else?

i've heard people here say jw's believe that jehovah will slaughter non-members of the jw religion when armageddon comes any day now.

does the watchtower teach that jehovah himself will do the killing, or is it delegated to someone else like jesus, satan, angels, or humans killing each other?

who is the actual killer in the picture?
